CEO Message

Impact can be a hard thing to define. Is it scale? Is it dollars invested? Is it presence in a region?

Without a definition to ground its intent, it’s a term that can be easily diluted.

For us at Medavie, impact isn’t just an activity or an outcome. It’s the commitment — shared by every member of our team — to making a tangible difference in the lives of others.

We define our impact by the experience of our clients, customers, patients, employees and community members, and by the number of people we reach through improving access to care, advancing prevention, and helping Canadians live healthier, fuller lives.

The ways we show up in delivering on that commitment are evolving. Likewise, Canadians’ health needs are shifting to become more personal, more ongoing, and more complex. As needs change, one thing remains the same: our resolve to find solutions, even when it’s hard.

As a not-for-profit social enterprise, we’re in a unique position to do what others can’t or won’t. We lean into this, and we always will.

Our sole purpose is to fulfill our mission: improving the wellbeing of Canadians. We combine our financial strength as a successful business with an unwavering determination to do good. We reinvest our surplus where it matters most — by investing in technologies that enable more responsive care, building stronger communities through social connection and philanthropic efforts, and supporting our employees in finding meaning, growth, and purpose in their work. This is what guides how we operate, innovate, and ensure our long-term sustainability, while ensuring we act in ways that are in the best interests of the people and communities we serve.

We understand that physical health doesn’t exist in isolation. Mental health, social connection, financial stability, and access to the right care at the right time all influence our wellbeing. That’s why we continue to evolve our approach to care, moving beyond traditional models and working with our partners to develop integrated, patient-first, community-based solutions that meet people where they are.

This report illustrates the powerful impact of that approach. It highlights the partnerships we choose, the solutions we secure, and the people who make our work possible: our team members, partners, and community leaders who share our belief that better health starts with showing up — with humility, courage, and curiosity.
