Medavie Commits $100K to Support Hurricane Fiona Relief Efforts

New Brunswick, September 27, 2022 – Medavie, through its Foundation, is committing $100,000 to support the needs of Atlantic Canadians responding to Hurricane Fiona.

“Over the past few days, we have watched as Atlantic Canada prepared for the impact of Hurricane Fiona, braced themselves to weather the storm, and came back together to begin picking up the pieces in the aftermath,” says Bernard Lord, CEO, Medavie. “While this has been a heartbreaking experience for many, the community-mindedness of Atlantic Canadians has only grown stronger, and we thank all first responders and countless organizations who are coming together to help others.”

Money raised will enable the Canadian Red Cross to carry out relief, recovery, resiliency and risk reduction activities at the individual and community levels.

“With our headquarters and many of our operations in Atlantic Canada, we recognize a number of our own employees, clients and communities have been impacted directly,” says Bernard. “As others from across our family of companies have been asking how they can help, a dedicated portal has been setup by the Canadian Red Cross for Medavie employees who would like to contribute to the Hurricane Fiona appeal.”

Canadians wishing to help are encouraged to donate at www.redcross.ca or by calling 1-800-418-1111. The Government of Canada will match donations made to the Hurricane Fiona in Canada Appeal by Canadians and corporations up to October 23, 2022.
