Medavie Named as One of Atlantic Canada’s Employers of Diversity

Medavie is pleased to share that it has been named as one of Atlantic Canada’s Employers of Diversity by Atlantic Business Magazine.

“Creating a sense of belonging and a trusting environment for employees is essential to fostering psychologically safe workplaces, which is something we are focused on achieving at Medavie” shared Jennifer Taylor, Director of Diversity Equity and Inclusion at Medavie. “We are proud to be included in this list of Employers of Diversity in our region.”

Atlantic Business Magazine’s Employers of Diversity program is designed to recognize Atlantic Canadian companies instituting measurable benchmarks to increase the diversity of their corporate culture. Programs like diversity targets, health accommodations, flexible work options, respectful workplace policies, parental supports and other creative programs were taken into consideration when evaluating the award recipients.

Medavie has embraced diversity, equity and inclusion as the foundation of its corporate values. Atlantic Business Magazine congratulates them on this well-earned recognition."

Medavie’s journey to becoming a more inclusive environment began with a DEI strategy that has led to several initiatives including:

  • Formation of a DEI Council to support the strategy’s advancement
  • Creation of an Inclusive Language Guide and training to support Medavie employees in modelling the use of inclusive language
  • Establishment of a DEI resource centre to give employees access to DEI-related tools, information, webinars and resources
  • Delivery of training on unconscious bias, DEI fundamentals and inclusive leadership to help support employees’ awareness and realize their full potential
  • Assessment of our HR practices to ensure we’re inclusive, attracting diverse talent and promoting it within
  • Formation of employee resource groups to connect colleagues who share similar interests, backgrounds and experiences
  • Organized events throughout through the year to celebrate cultural diversity and foster allyship
